Fire Safety

For Fire Safety Week the Coolidge fire department came and did a presentation for the children.  They loved to see the fire fighter in his uniform.  We will be heading to the fire fighter training school on Friday for our field trip! The children are really excited.

Door Decoration

On our classroom door I have been adding silly quotes that the children say. Other teachers love to stop by and read the different quotes. :)

Johnny Appleseed

For Johnny Appleseed's birthday we made our very own Johnny Appleseed.  Our sight word this week was I. On the piece of paper below Johnny is "_____ am ___________ Appleseed." The children had to write I on the first line and their name on the second line. Then it read ex.: "I am William Applseed."

Math Fun

In our math curriculum we have been learning a number a day. To practice writing the numbers the children come up one at a time to write the numbers on the large piece of paper. I posted the numbers in the front of the room by our number line.  The children love to look up there when they need to remember how to write a number.

Learning Centers

Here a couple of the learning centers we have done.
Using ziplock bags, paint, and q-tips; the children practiced writing letters, words, numbers, and shapes.

In the Play-Doh center the children were using letter cutters. (Wal-Mart 100 count of cookie cutters for $10!)

Write the Room

This week we started write the room! The children have had so much fun using the clip boards and writing all the words they can find.

They love writing the words that Ms. Maukstad wrote on the board! :)

It's amazing to see the growth they have made already!

Color Unit

For our regional development we had to make our own unit. As the Stout KinderTeam we decided to make a color unit! :)

One activity we did was paint color wheels.

Made a class graph of our favorite colors.

The children wrote their name and the color word of their favorite color.

The Very Busy Spider

We read the The Very Busy Spider By: Eric Carle and made spiders

First we drew a web with white crayon. Next they colored the spider and "bubble" cut it out.

I thought it would be cute to hang them up on a web. So, I stapled yarn to the wall first before I hung out the children's work.

All the children's work up. I added the title The Very Busy Spider. (Not pictured)
